Redback Strapping is strong. Readback Strapping is the safe and superior alternative to steel banding. Redback Strapping is used in lumber yards and many industrial applications for securing heavy loads, bundled loads and irregular shaped objects. Redback Strapping has higher tenacity than steel, so it can absorb impacts that would normally break steel banding. It also has the highest cross directional strength of any banding material on the market, so it will not rupture like the green poly strapping.

And unlike steel banning, it won’t cause serious injury or lash back dangerously when cut. In addition, it is fast and easy to use, and Redback Strapping is less expensive than steel banding. Redback Strapping stays tight and maintains tension over time.

Watch how fast and easy it is to secure Redback Strapping around this heavy lumber load. We use a specially designed wire buckle and an economical tool that tensions and cuts the strap. The buckle is applied manually by threading the strap through the middle of the buckle and looping it over the leg. Any excess slack is then pulled out by hand before applying tension with the tool. Redback Strapping has high modulus of elasticity, so as it is stretched around the load, it fights back exponentially, like an industrial shock absorber to return to its original shape.

Redback Strapping is comprised of two different types, woven strapping and composite strapping. Woven strapping looks and feels like a backpack strap, whereas composite strapping has a plastic coating and looks and feels like a thick filament tape. Both are manufactured with the same high tenacity industrial filament yarn so they have similar technical properties and performance. The same tool is used to tension both types of strapping.

The main difference is the fastener. Woven strapping is fastened with a phosphated wire buckle and composite strapping is typically fastened with a galvanized wire buckle. Another difference is that woven strapping coils have a three inch inside diameter core, whereas composite has an eight inch inside diameter. So they require different strapping dispenser carts and Redback has several economical options, including a dispenser that mounts on the cage of a forklift.
